Policy

Objectives

Location
The Hindustan College of Arts & Science is located on the back waters of Muttukadu. The road that leads to the college is an IT highway which has become an expansive home for numerous IT indutries. The college is about 25 kms away from Adyar, the heart of the city, and can be spotted amidst tourist spots and historical places such as VGP, MGM, Crocodile Park, Mahabalipuram, Tiger Caves, etc.

Administration
The Hindustan College of Arts and Science is governed by the managing committee under the able administration of Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson of the Hindustan Group of Institutions. The Chairperson is assisted by the Director, Director (Projects), and the Principal.

The faculty, headed by Dr. V.J. Philip, consists of a team of highly qualified and dedicated staff who are sincere and unstinting in their pursuit of achieving academic excellence. Not only do they guide students in their academic interests, but also help focus thoughts and actions in the positive direction.
The faculty also encourages students to develop their talents in extra- and co-curricular activities. Their efforts are directed towards achieving an all-round development of the students and moulding them into good citizens of tomorrow.

Library and Learning Resources
The central library is well stocked with thousands of volumes for the various courses and a large number of Indian and foreign journals/ magazines. It also has a large collection of video cassettes on various Arts, Science, Media and Computer subjects. The library is an institutional member of the British Council, Institute of Management Associations, etc.
 
Sports and Leisure
The Institution has excellent playgrounds and facilities for Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Water Sports and Indoor games like Table Tennis, Billiards, Snooker, etc. A well-equipped gymnasium is also available for boys and girls in the Student Centre.
NSS ( National Social Service)
NSS activities are introduced among students. Minimum attendance of 75% which shall be duly certified by the Principal of the college before 31st March in the first year, is followed in fulfilment of the regulation of Madras University, for the benefit of the students. The NSS activities include Blood Donation Camps, Training to school students nearby premises, and also co-ordinates with college activities.
Training and Placement
Professional training is offered to students periodically to meet the emerging requirements of various industries. Campus recruitments are regularly held in collaboration with several reputed organisations for students successfully completing their courses whereby qualifying students are assured of placements.
Counselling Service
Students who have difficulty in pursuing their courses or face any other problems are diligently counselled in strict confidentiality. Remedial English courses are conducted by the English faculty for students who lack confidence in spoken and written English. Personality development programmes are conducted frequently for the overall refinement and enrichment of students’ perception and individuality.
Scholorships
Scholarships are provided for meritorious students, based on their marks/grades acquired in their earlier class finalized during admission process.
College Canteen
A well maintained college canteen is operated by catering professionals. Students are offered a wide-range of snacks, beverages, and a variety of dishes and meals (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian).
Transport
Transport is offered by the college on all distant routes covering all the city points to College Campus. We ensure that there is no over crowding inside the bus. Moreover, each bus is monitered by a bus incharge to avoid problems within the students inside the bus.
Banking

Banking is possible in the college premises with The Punjab and Sind Bank branch, making banking procedure easy and convenient. A 24-hour IOB ATM is situated on campus.
Residential Accommodation
The college provides hostel accommodation for over a 1000 students. There are separate hostels for boys and girls on campus, neatly fenced with attractive landscaping. Healthy and nutritious food is served by professional caterers and residents can opt for either Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian diet. To ensure a well–secured and congenial atmosphere, the hostels adopt strict and transparent residential strategies.
Health Service
Medical care is provided by the Campus Medical Officers and regular health checkups are conducted.
